YANGCHEN
Yangchen brings warmth, culture, and a genuine love of food to everything she does. Born in Darjeeling, India, she attended Loreto Convent in Darjeeling and later earned her master’s degree from Newman University. As a mother of two and an avid cook, she embraces the epicurean philosophy of eating, drinking, and being merry, believing food is one of the most meaningful ways to bring people together and celebrate life.
My Story
I was born in the hill town of Darjeeling, India, where I began my education at Loreto Convent and remained there through the 10th grade. I later completed my higher secondary studies at St. Xavier’s School in Pakyong, Sikkim, another beautiful hill station in India. After graduating, I moved to Kansas with my mother, who had previously lived here with her late husband, Wayne Austin.
I continued my education at Newman University in Wichita, a private Catholic liberal arts college, where I graduated with honors and completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration. I am multilingual and bring a wide range of experience to my work. My professional career began at Newman University, where I worked in the admissions office for more than eleven years in several roles and also served on the Kansas Board of Admissions.
